Airtel customers can now log on to
chat with friends and family. The
company has unveiled Airtel Messenger
that allows mobile users to text chat
within a personalized community or set
of communities.
According to a report, the service
allows Airtel mobile customers to get
a desktop chat experience on their
mobiles. Users can send and receive
messages in real time via their mobile
phones without the need to be attached
to a computer, the report added. And
this is not all. According to a review
report of the Airtel Messenger, the
service incorporates personalized
features like options like online and
offline, busy and the like.
Users can also convey multiple
emoticons while in conversation and
also have multiple textual
conversations at the same time.
Another significant addition is the
presence-enabled address book helps
senders know when their contacts are
online.
The Airtel Messenger is seen as a
convenient and value-added
text-messaging service that will
largely appeal to young professionals
who want to be in constant touch with
their friends, family, and business
associates. Customers, who have a GPRS
and Airtel Live-activated handset, can
download the Airtel Messenger by
registering fo the service by sending
an SMS to 57070 with the message 'IM'.
Bharti has said that it would offer
Airtel Messenger free-of-cost till
August 31, 2007.
