Acer Aspire EL 1600 nettop launched in India

Acer has launched its Aspire EL 1600 nettop in India.

The Acer Aspire EL 1600 nettop will cost Rs 12,000, without including a monitor and operating system.

The company is said to be in talks with Microsoft to provide the Windows operating system with the Acer Aspire EL 1600 nettop.

The company has said that the nettop, compared with conventional desktop computers, is smaller, lighter and immensely affordable, and consumes almost just one-third the power of a conventional desktop.

Nettops enable users to surf the Internet, access web-based applications and rich internet applications, with features enabling document processing and audio and video playback.

S Rajendran, chief marketing officer, Acer India, said, “The EL1600 marks the launch of first true Nettop in the Indian market is a significant moment for the PC industry in India. Our objective is to drive Nettops as another choice for potential computer users.”

“Optimized for an unmatched net experience, it is equally versatile for normal computing applications that ranges from document processing (Text, Spreadsheets, Presentations) and management to audio/video playbacks. All in a nifty 8.5L cool form factor at an incredible price point,” he added.

The company said that the Acer Aspire EL 1600 nettop is a no-compromise PC delivering great performance and expansion possibilities for incredible value.

The Acer Aspire EL1600 nettop comes with a classic design, black glossy exterior packaged into a small form factor of 8.5 litres.

Powered by the Intel Atom 230 CPU, 1.6 GHz, the nettop from Acer promises best in class computing performance, and energy saving capabilities, Acer has said.

The Acer Aspire EL 1600 nettop has a 160 GB SATA Serial Hard disk, 1024 MB RAM Memory, and 945GC Express Chipset.

The Intel Atom processor is a low-power processor designed specifically for a new class of simple, easy-to-use nettops available today.

These nettops are designed for basic computing and Internet-centric usages and ideal for first time users.

While it is based on an entirely new micro architecture designed specifically for small devices and low power, it gives consumers internet and basic computing experience at an affordable price point.

The Acer Aspire EL 1600 nettop will be available at all Acer registered channel partners, 250 plus Acer retail outlets, and its large format retail relationships.

Reports say that Acer will first look at tier-II cities like Cochin, Coimbatore, and Hyderabad, and then branch out to rural areas.

    1)is TV monitor compatibale with this nettop. if yes, which TV. 2) is there a dvd player in this?

    You can get genuine W7 Home Basic for Rs. 4150 from Microsft online store. New LG Monitor TVs can easily be used with it. Yes theres a DVD player.
