Acer Aspire 2920 laptop launched in India

Acer Aspire 2920 laptop Linux model to be available in India for Rs 37,115 and its Vista Home premium model for Rs 40,615.

Acer, a leading vendor of branded PCs, is bringing to the Indian computer mart its new laptop named Aspire 2920. Part of the Gemstone series, the Aspire 2920 comes with a ceramic-finish pearl grey interior along with a holographic Satin-finish cover, said a preview report.

The company, which is one of the world's top three branded personal computer companies expects to garner a good market for the Aspire 2920. Powered by Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processor T9300, and developed with an eye on professionals and women, the new laptop is expected to offer high performance mobility. It is expected that Aspire 2920 would be ideal for home users who aim at the best value in enhanced entertainment performance, digital home connectivity and multimedia management.

Aspire 2920 supports mobile GM965 Express chipset and Wireless WiFi Link, Bluetooth network solution. The notebook will be available in major cities across the country with the Linux model priced at Rs 37,115 and the Vista Home Premium model available for Rs 40,615. Both the prices exclude taxes.

Complete with a 12.1-inches WXGA Crystal Brite TFT LCD display, 160GB HDD, 2GB RAM, webcam, and DVD writer, the laptop has a battery life of up to three-and-a-half hours. Moreover, an Aspire 2920 user also has the facility of choosing optimum settings to extend battery time with Acer's ePowerManagement feature.

The new laptop supports a dual independent display, giving users a choice to use both Linux and Vista Home Premium operating systems. Besides, it incorporates three USB ports, one Express Card 54, SD/xD/MS card reader, S-video and VGA out.
