Home cinema viewers have always been irritated by the fact that they could not perfectly recreate a movie hall experience, visually, on their widescreen flat-panel TVs. HDTV sets can take you only so far. A lot of the movies produced now are in the 21:9 format that is suitable for movie theaters. When you watch such a movie on a 16:9 TV set, you get black bars at the top and bottom, wasting screen space. Something all of us have experienced while watching the latest movies from Hollywood.

IIT-Kanpur satellite Jugnu in its final stages

The micro satellite being developed by IIT-Kanpur in association with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is in its final stages. The satellite has been named ‘Jugnu’. The satellite will be handed over to ISRO in November where it will be tested and launched.

Nokia N97 will come preloaded with Skype, used for free and cheap phone calls over the internet. Skype can be used to make free internet-based VOIP calls to other Skype users and cheap phone calls to other landlines and mobile phones. Skype is already available for several Nokia devices and other mobile phones. But the Skype version under development is specifically for Nokia N97, Skype said. Skype is still fine-tuning the program code for the application.
