BOCOG launches second phase of sponsor programme

IOC PRESS RELEASE

4 April 2005: The Organising Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad – Beijing 2008 (BOCOG) has started the second phase of its sponsorship programme for the summer Olympic Games, which will take place in Beijing in August 2008. The programme consists of three different levels of sponsorship, namely Beijing 2008 Partners, Beijing 2008 Sponsors and Beijing 2008 Suppliers.

Brand recognition and benefits
Potential sponsors of the Beijing Games can expect to find a large number of opportunities open to them to strengthen their brand recognition by associating themselves with this event. The Games organisers have put together a rights and benefits package that includes many possibilities for the sponsors to associate themselves not only with the Games, but also with the Chinese Olympic team. A sponsor recognition programme and an anti-ambush marketing programme will also help the sponsors to get the most from their partnership with the Beijing Games. BOCOG currently has seven companies that have joined up as Beijing 2008 Partners.

The TOP programme
The TOP programme, which is run by the International Olympic Committee, allows sponsors the possibility of becoming worldwide partners of the Olympic Games for at least a four-year period, covering a summer and winter Games. These sponsors contribute financial and value-in-kind support, which help the OCOGs to stage the Games, the 202 NOCs to participate and the IOC to support them in their activities. We are currently entering the TOP VI programme.
