Super-sized kite made for Beijing Olympics
The official Chinese news agency Xinhua reports that a
kite-flying man has readied a giant kite for the Beijing
Olympics 2008

April 8, 2005: Fans of particualr sports can
go to any lengths. Today, Xinhua, the Chinese news agency
reported that a kite-flying expert in the city og Jilin has
readied a super-sized kite as a gift to the Olympic Games
2008.
the fan, Li Jingyang. told the agency that he was inspired
by the news of China's bagging the 2008 Olympics, and he
started working on the kite soon after.
The kite is 3000 meters long, made with over 60 pieces of 3-meter-long bamboo, 100 meters long nonwoven fabrics and four kilograms of
glue - and it took Li Jingyang over five years to prepare this
giant kite for the Olympics. He has named it the
'Olympic Swallow'. It took the efforts of seven other
kite-flyers too to make this kite.
Here's to his wish for flying the kite at the 2008 Beijing
Olympics coming true!
