After being photographed together in Rome this week, representatives of Hollywood actor Tom Cruise and actress
Katie Holmes confirmed that the pair are dating.
Tom Cruise, Hollywood superstar is now 42 while the actress Katie Holmes is all of 26 and star of Dawson's Creek.
Their publicists admitted that the couple has been romantically involved for only a few weeks.
News sources quoted Cruise as saying, "We went to have dinner, lunch with the Mayor and we went around outside the Globe Theatre. Just hung out in Rome, said Cruise as he was walking to the awards ceremony."
Tom Cruise has had two marriages so far - first to actress Mimi Rogers and then to Nicole Kidman, a superstar in her own right. After splitting with Nicole Kirman, Tom Cruise dated
Penelope Cruz for a while.
His recent big movies was Minority report and Last samurai, and Cruise is currently looking forward to his new movie War of the Worlds.
Fans are fully believing the story though. There are those who believe that this is a publicity stunt for
Katie Holmes, and they say that real star romances are always too closely guarded and secretive. Tom Cruise and Holmes' alleged relationship began when his publicist-sister, Lee Anne DeVette, announced to the world that they were dating - the same night the two of them paraded before photographers in Rome holding hands. The following night, they again put on a show for the paparazzi, this time making sure the paparazzi got photos of them kissing.
Meanwhile Katie Holmes says that "I think every little girl dreams about (her wedding). I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise."
For those who are interested in such things, Katie Holmes also claims that she is a virgin, and that she does
not believe in sex before marriage.
