Sunil Dutt is no more

Sunil Dutt, veteran actor and Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs died in his sleep at his home in Bandra in Mumbai, on Wednesday morning at 3 AM.
25 May 2005: Sunil Dutt, veteran actor and Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs died in his sleep at his home in Bandra in Mumbai, on Wednesday morning at 3 AM. Sunil Dutt would have turned 75 on June 6.
Sunil Dutt acted in 106 films and directed six. Sunil Dutt is survived by son Sanjay Dutt, daughters Namrata and Priya, sons-in-law and grandchildren.
Sunil Dutt has acted in several successful films since 1956. He was born in the Khurd village (now in Pakistan). His family moved to India during the Partition in 1947. His family came to Mumbai, where he joined Jai Hind College as an undergraduate and took up a job. Sunil Dutt landed an additional assignment with an advertisement company, with which he could supplement his income.
He met his future wife Nargis when he working for the advertising company, where he used to meet film personalities. Sunil Dutt married Nargis on March 11, 1958. he launched the film career of his son Sanjay Dutta with Rocky in 1981. The same year, Nargis died of cancer. Sunil Dutta later set up the Nargis Dutt foundation in memory of his wife for the cure of cancer patients.
He leaves behind his glorious acting career with films like BR Chopra's 'Ek Hi Raasta' (1956) and Mehboob Khan's 'Mother India' (1956). Apart from his acting career, Sunil Dutt is fondly remembered for his philanthropy and social work. Sunil Dutt last appeared on-screen in the blockbuster 'Munnabhai MBBS', where he acted as father to Sanjay Dutt.
