PARIS HILTON SENT BACK TO JAIL |
Resolute judge sends wailing Paris
Hilton back to jail
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge
Michael T Sauer decided to send Paris
Hilton back to jail.
11 June, 2007:
Amid hysterics and high drama in the
courtroom, actress and hotel heiress
Paris Hilton has been sent back to
prison by a Los Angeles judge barely
two days after she was released by the
sheriff on unspecified medical
grounds.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge
Michael T Sauer overturned a decision
by Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca
to allow Paris Hilton, 26, to serve
the rest of her term at home with an
electronic monitoring device. The
judge insisted that Paris Hilton serve
her full sentence, not the reduced
23-day sentence she was given by the
sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Lee Baca had cited a “medical”
condition when he slapped an
electronic ankle bracelet on Hilton
and sent her home on Thursday – after
just three days in prison – to serve
out the rest of her sentence in her
$2.1-million mansion.
Judge Sauer said during the court
hearing that he had not been given
details of the medical condition that
apparently prompted her release.
The judge said he was told that a
psychiatrist had visited her at the
jail but did not go into the details.
More accusations were heaped on Lee
Baca on Friday – such as, he had given
Paris Hilton special treatment after
it was revealed that her grandfather
had given him a $1,000 campaign
contribution.
Dozens of reporters and photographers
waited for the star of The Simple Life
reality show to emerge from her home
as news helicopters buzzed in the
skies overhead.
Obviously angered that Lee Baca had
ignored his expressed orders to keep
Paris Hilton in jail, Judge Sauer had
ordered the heiress to appear in his
court at 9 a.m. But Paris Hilton, who
was apparently under the mistaken
impression that she would be able to
testify by phone, did not show up.
So the judge dispatched deputies to
fetch her.
Paris cried “Mom! Mom! Mom!” as a
female deputy escorted her out of
court. Paris cried out: “It’s not
right.”
Kathy Hilton, her mother, could only
say “I love you” as her daughter was
cuffed and driven back to the a Los
Angeles county jail where she will
serve a 45-day sentence for violating
her probation imposed for reckless
driving.
Dressed in a gray sweatshirt over
slacks, her blond hair pulled back in
a ponytail, and wearing no makeup,
Paris was screaming throughout the
hearing. She dabbed her eyes, wiped
her nose on her sleeve, and her body
shook constantly. She turned several
times to look at her parents, who were
seated behind her in the courtroom.
From the court, she was taken straight
to the medical ward of the Twin Towers
Correctional Facility for the weekend,
where doctors will evaluate her before
moving her back to a regular jail.
Paris Hilton’s attorneys are expected
to appeal against the Los Angeles
judge’s order in a couple of days.
