Pop singer George Michael is
wedding his partner for 10 year Kenny
Goss at a private ceremony some time
early next year.
The George Michael-Kenny Goss wedding
has been made possible because of the
Civil partnership bill passed by the
British parliament. It becomes
effective December 21, 2005.
However, do not expect veils and gowns
at the gay wedding. Apart from that,
it will be more or less the regular
thing, George Michael said after a
documentary screening function.

The 42-year old George Michael was
formerly with music band Wham!, before
he set out on his own. George
Michael's songs went on to become
bigger hits than Wham's.
The Civil Partnership Bill offers some
level of security for same-sex couples
like benefits on pensions and taxes.
According to George Michael, he and
Kenny Goss decided on making the
wedding official, since the new bill
provides them with some protection.
"You never know, I could get hit by a
bus and the poor man could have
nothing," George Michael said,
referring to his wedding plan with
Kenny Goss.
George Michael was speaking at the
screening of a documentary about his
career.
When asked about rumors of a Wham
comeback, George Michael laughed it
off saying even if he agreed to it,
Andrew Ridgeley won't, making it
impossible. The two had split in 1986,
and have never performed together
again.
"I'm afraid I can't get into those
small tennis shorts anymore," George
Michael said, in a throwback to his
"Careless Whisper" attire.
The British government expects 22,000
gay couples to take up civil
partnerships in the first five years
after the new law is in place.
