Remember Nemo? The cute little rebellious fish who stole your hearts when he appeared in the animated Finding Nemo.
Nemo will soon get on to stage, along with his overprotective clown fish father Marlin. The movie’s other aquatic characters will accompany them on stage. Converting the touching tale into a play is Disney and the film maker is calling the stage version a Broadway-caliber short-form stage musical.
Come November, and preview performances of Finding Nemo-The Musical will begin. The makers have set a January 2007 premiere at the Theater in the Wild at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
This will be the first time Disney is making a musical of a non-musical animated film The stage version will feature animated backdrops, special lighting, sound and effects. The brains behind Finding Nemo-The Musical will transform The Theater in the Wild into a magical underwater wonderland. So get ready for some unique tap-dancing sharks, bike-riding puppets and a punk performance by the great white shark Bruce, reports quoting Disney officials said.
The 30-minute version will have the underwater environment come alive on stage, which is being directed by Peter Brosius, the artistic director at The Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis.
The protagonist Nemo, accompanied by Marlin and Dory is set to appear as animated puppets operated by live performers. Lavish use of technology will show how the stage would be given an underwater look and feel.
And that is not all. Finding Nemo-The Musical tickets would come with an admission ticket to Disney's Animal Kingdom too.
