Baluchi goes South. The North Indian frontier cuisine
restaurant Baluchi, InterContinental The Grand hosts a Chettinad
Food Festival from from June 20 -25
21 June 2005: Mumbai, June 2005: From June 20-25, Baluchi at InterContinental The Grand Mumbai near Sahar airport is going South.
Baluchi, which has acquired an enviable reputation as one of the finest restaurants in Mumbai serving North Indian frontier cuisine, is all set to prove that it is equally adept at preparing South Indian delicacies as it hosts the Chettinad Food Festival from June 20- 25. This unique food festival will feature mouth-watering delicacies from the Chettinad region in Tamil
Nadu.
Baluchi’s menu during the Chettinad Food Festival will feature an extensive array of signature Chettinad dishes, including Paruppu Rassam (a tangy lentil broth flavoured with garlic), Kozhi Milagu Varuval (succulent chicken pieces cooked with pepper), Kozhi Uppu Curry (a trademark chettinad chicken delicacy) and many more. Diners will be welcomed with a complimentary drink of baby coconut water, and can thereafter choose from the a la carte menu. Live dosa counters and coffee stalls will ensure that the ambience at Baluchi reflects the food at the Chettinad Food Festival.
According to Chef Subhash Joshi, who has masterminded this unique festival, “A festival such as the Chettinad Food festival gives us at Baluchi an extraordinary opportunity to showcase the range and diversity of cuisines that India and Baluchi can offer. Our patrons, who are perhaps used to thinking of Baluchi as their restaurant of choice for North Indian Mughlai cuisine, will now see a wholly different facet of
Baluchi. At Baluchi, we plan to showcase many more cuisines from across India in the months to come. The roots of Chettinad cuisine lie in a small village called Nedungudi in Tamil
Nadu. Chettinad cooks are known as Samayal and the Chettinad cuisine is a fiery and tasty combination of spices and herbs.”
At Baluchi you’ll relish some famous Indian Recipes amid a setting as unique as the foods that come out of this country. The unique charpoy at the entrance evokes memories of a bygone era. A trip to Baluchi is a great culinary adventure, as the restaurant serves Indian favorites from all over the sub-continent. The restaurant’s specialty is the hot spicy curried flavours from the North West frontiers of India.
Besides Baluchi, InterContinental The Grand Mumbai offers a choice of dining destinations like WOKS- Pan Asian cuisine, Trendz - Contemporary world cuisine and 24/7 - Round the clock restaurant. There is also Beluga - The cocktail lounge with
