No football betting please, we are Germans!

May 1, 2005: Roiled by the Hoyzer football match-fixing scandal, Germany has deicded to ban players football and everyone else engaged ion football from gambling and betting on matches. This was announced by German Football Asscoaition DFB. Football players, coaches, referees and officials comes under the new ban.
Germany is to host the finals of World Cup football 2006 next year. The new code of conduct has been approved by Germany's Football Association.
Meeting at an extraordinary session in response to the Robert Hoyzer football match-fixing scandal, DFB cleared a proposal which will prohibit football betting for everyone involved in the professional game.
German football has been mired in controversy since the time Hoyzer confessed to fixing matches in the Cup and lower leagues for a gambling syndicate. The revelations had come as a major embarrassment for the German football authorities.
