BY OUR BUSINESS CORRESPONDENT
19 September, 2005, Chicago: United Airlines has come up with its annual Christmas fare sale.
The sale, christened, Mele Kalikimaka (Merry Christmas), is for travel from Hawaii to the United States, a statement said.
The sale has under its purview flights originating from Big Island (Hawaii), Kauai, Maui and Oahu (Honolulu).
For a roundtrip purchase, a ticket from Honlulu to Los Angeles or Las Vegas costs $199 as per the fare. The Honolulu-Chicago roundtrip will cost $259, while a ticket to New York is up for grabs at $279. A ticket from Maui to Seattle or Los Angeles is listed for $219 as per the fare, while it costs $209 to San Francisco. San Francisco ticket from Kauai will cost $216.
The Honolulu-Boston fare is $239 while the fare to Washington from Honolulu is $279. Maui-Pittsburgh ticket has been listed for $303, while Kona-Philadelphia and Kauai-Baltimore ticket will also cost the same.
The catch is that tickets should be purchased seven days before. A three-day stay is mandatory. The fare is applicable for tickets originating from Hawaii from December 1 and December 25. For return travel the dates have been set between December 29 and Jan 8, 2006. Some flights which come under the fare would be provided by code sharing partners of United Airlines or United Express carriers, a media release said
Tickets purchased through United reservation counters, however, will cost $5 more, while airport ticket counters will sell tickets at $10 more. United.com is the best bet to find out and grab the cheapest fare.
United, the world’s second largest airline, said tickets are limited and hence the fares are subject to availability. Tickets must be bought seven days prior to the journey and ticketed within a day of making reservations.
