Pink Floyd reunites to recreate the magic

After 25 long years, British pop band Pink Floyd is reuniting for a worthy cause: Africa.
It would be a treat of sorts for the millions of Floyd fans all over the world as David Gilmour (Guitar), Nick Mason (Drums) , Roger Waters (Guitar) and Richard Wright (key board) share a podium for a concert organised by pop star Bob Geldof to draw the world’s attention to the misery of poverty in the dark continent.
The concert would be held in Hyde Park, London, on July 2. This is an apparent attempt to focus the plight of Africa to G8 leaders, who are scheduled to meet on July 6&7 to discuss measures to help Africa fight poverty, its greatest menace.
Pink Floyd broke up following ego clashes between Rogers Waters and the rest of the band in 1981, though other members continued to perform together. Pink Floyd has not played together after their last hit The Wall (1979).
David Gilmour is not a founder member of the band. Pink Floyd formed by Syd Barret
Roger Waters, Rick Wright and Nick Mason,all Cambridge students, in 1965. Following Barret’s mental health woes, Gilmour replaced him in the band.
Floyd, which epitomized the left wing resurgence against capitalist alienation
of the times, tasted success as a band with the 1973 hit Dark side of the Moon. A strong combination of powerful lyrics combined with overwhelming , out of the box experiments with musical instruments was the key to the resounding success of Floyd as a band.
The school boys’ rebellion against teachers featured in Another Brick in the wall, where the kids exhort teachers “to leave us kids alone” is one of the most liked Floyd numbers. It really jelled with the rebellious times of 70s. The psychedelic dalliance of Floyd gave an aura to the rock psyche, with an outpouring of grief and satire, mockery and
de-mystification forming its cornerstone.
The man behind Floyd’s lyrical prowess, Roger Waters, performed in Palace grounds, Bangalore on April 2002 to a capacity crowd, as apart of his In The Flesh tour. Incidentally, Waters’ daughter’s name is India.
