CMAI’s 46th national garment fair begins

Aug 19, 2005: The 46th National Garment Fair organised by ‘The Clothing Manufacturers Association
of India, began at the Bombay Exhibit ion Centre, NSE Complex, Goregaon on Wednesday. The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) is an association of garment manufacturers, exporters
and retailers.
A host of brands, retailers, and manufacturers are participating in the fair.
A Chinese delegation from the national Garment association of China and Counsel General of Sri Lanka are expected to visit the three-day fare.
The first-ever innerwear collection by well-known brands like Juliet, Euro, Little Lacy, Valentine etc., stole the show on the opening day of the show.
Merchandisers from leading retail chains, MBOs, multiplexes, franchisee stores, dealers, distributors,
foreign buyers, students and design institute delegation are swarming the show as it is the beginning of the season.
Prominent was the ‘Power Brand’ Zone, where power play armed with their latest collection was at their
powerful best. Zodiac, Arvind, Madura Garments, Wills Sports and Cottons are also making the show lively.
“The NGF has always been keen on promoting business among both the retailers and manufacturers, the fair offers a common platform for both. Having entered a new WTO regime post ending of the quota era, the industry is at a stage where we can compete and grow tremendously in the world market. India is as good or better than anyone else as a garment manufacturer, so we appeal to all concerned to give our representations due consideration for the sake of this giant industry,” said Premal Udani, President CMAI.
The National Garment Fair is the biggest apparel industry event of the year. Leading brands who showcase their latest collections for the festival season in the fair.
The 46th NGF is being held in an area of over 2,00,000 Square Feet with more than 250 stalls.
