Amitabh Bachchan wins national award for best actor for Black, Sarika is best actress
Black is best Hindi film, Rani Mukherji fails to bag honour for Black.

Amitabh Bachchan in Black -
National Award Winner 2005 Best Actor
NEW DELHI: Amitabh Bachchan has won the
national award for the best actor for his performance in Sanjay Leela Bansali’s Black, media reports said quoting reliable sources. Amitabh had won the national award earlier for Agneepath.
The awards were scheduled to be announced on August 14 but has been postponed. Former actress B Saroja Devi heads the award jury.

Sarika in Parzania - National Award
Winner 2005 Best Actress
Sarika is the best actress for her role in ‘Parzania’, though Rani Mukherji was widely tipped to be the best actress for her role in Black. Sarika bagged the
award for her role as a Parsi mother hit by the Gujarat communal riots.
Kalpurush, directed by Buddhadev Dasgupta has been selected for the best picture award, but the best director award goes to Rahul Dholakia, who directed Parzania.
Black, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the
Best Hindi Feature Film of 2005.
The awards announcement has been postponed as the Information and Broadcasting ministry has sought law ministry’s opinion on a high court judgment favouring director Anand Patwardhan on the submission of uncensored films for the National Awards.
The I&B Ministry may move the SC against the verdict, it is learnt.
Short films, which were uncensored, made by Patwardhan and three others directors have been included in the non-feature film
category.
Hindi actor Naseeruddin Shah is learnt to have bagged the
Best Supporting Actor award for his stellar performance as a fallen cricket hero in ‘Iqbal’.
Anupam Kher has been selected for the special jury award
for his sensitive portrayal of an old man ruing the loss of ideals in ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara’.
A Special Jury Award has been given to Anupam Kher for his sensitive portrayal in ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara’ of an old man psychologically ravaged by the loss of ideals around him. Anupam Kher had bagged special mention earlier too for his performance in Daddy.
Aparna Sen’s ‘15 Park Avenue’ is the Best English language National Film Award.
