Aeromexico to begin non-stop Japan & Latin America flights
18-hour flight to cash in on trade between Japan and Latin American countries.

TOKYO: Aeromexico will start non-stop flights between Japan and Latin America on November 16. This would be the first non-stop flights from Japan to Latin America.
Aeromexico hopes to cash in the booming trade between the regions with a flight from Tokyo to Mexico City twice a week.
The trans-Pacific flight is expected to take 18 hours, which includes a 90-minute stop-over at Tijuana in Mexico.
The Mexican carrier will employ a Boeing 777. There will be two return flights from Mexico City to Japan also a week. It may be noted that in 2005 Japan, which hopes to boost trade ties with Mexico, recently struck a free-trade pact with it. Japan also sees Mexico as a launch point towards the vast and lucrative North American market. The deal has given a big boost to trade between the countries since then.
Though Japan’s largest carrier, Japan Airlines has flights to Mexico City and Brazilian capital of Rio de Janeiro, the flights have stop overs in Vancouver and New York.
The screening measures in US post 9/11 has made it cumbersome for travelers between Japan and Latin American countries as many flights have stop-overs in the US.
Aeromexico’s Tijuana stopover is a amajor attraction as is near to California. With this stopover, Aermexico attracts Mexicans and Mexican-Americans living in the United States.
