Mangalore pub attacks by Sri Rama Sene condemned by BJP, RSS

The Mangalore pub assault episode, which took place on January 24, 2009, when the activists of Sri Rama Sene barged into a pub and violently beat up the girls present there in the name of preserving Indian culture, has received condemnations and reactions from all political parties. BJP's national leaders condemned the attack too - though their focus was more on dissociating themselves from the Sene and avoiding any tengential blame.

India-Afghanistan Delaram-Zaranj road opened

  On January 22, 2009, Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Afghan President Hamid Karzai inaugurated a new Indian-built road in Western Afghanistan. The Delaram-Zaranj highway was built six months ahead of schedule, by the Border Roads Organisation.
