Hospira, Inc, the world leading generic injectable firm, has taken a booster shot by acquiring India's Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd injectables business for nearly US $ 400 million.

India' Lupin has approached the US Food & Drug Administration (US FDA) asking not to approve generic versions of antibiotic cefixime in oral suspension from companies including Orchid Pharma unless their products meet ``the same standards that the Lupin drug had to meet'', reports said.

Indian generic firm Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd  has received approval from the US FDA for its generic version of Pfizer's  anti-hypertension pill amlodipine besylate (Norvasc).
