eUNO system, a small, pocket size electrocardiogram (ECG) device which can be read through a Blackberry phones is now available in India.
eUNO R10 solution will be available to cardiologists in India who want to instant remote access to patients’ ECG and heart performance reports on their BlackBerry phones, said Maestros Mediline Systems Limited, the company which had developed the system.
eUNO system has a pocket size ECG monitor with bright TFT display and easy wearable electrodes.
Patient records the ECG event. Patients can send the recoded message With touch of a button “transmit”. The captured event will be transferred to eUNO server placed at 24×7 emergency medical assistance center via landline (PSTN) on mobile phone (GSM).
The on duty physician receives and analyzes the ECG event almost in real-time and gives the feedback in form of a return telephone call or SMS.
Thus eUNO remote ECG monitoring system enables patients with cardiac abnormalities to be virtually monitored in real-time from anywhere on a 24×7 basis giving them a sense of security without compromising their privacy, comfort and mobility.
Features of eUNO are bright daylight visible OLED display, easy wearable wrist electrodes. 50 ECG event storage memory, menu driven operation, works on 2AA size batteries, in built MODEM interface (PSTN) and optional bluetooth interface (for GSM).
eUNO server has a window based software, automatic identification and updating of patient records, SQL server based patient database, facility to programme the eUNO devices and integrated report generator.
An important advantage of the device is that it can pass on patient’s heart conditions to the hospital staff even before the patient reaches the hospital. The hospital then can be ready for any emergency to attend.
This allows them to respond quickly with a diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate medication.
Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai, is the first hospital to adopt the eUNO R10 application and its cardiologists will now have access to patient’s ECG reports on their BlackBerry phones.
“A heart attack is a life-threatening event. Knowing the symptoms of heart attack and seeking immediate medical attention is essential to prevent death, while appropriate treatment instituted within the first hour – the golden hour – can limit the damage to the heart,” said Dr Pavan Kumar, head of Telemedicine Department at Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai who was instrumental in conceptualizing eUNO R10 solution with Maestros Mediline.
eUNO R10 mobile ECG application on the BlackBerry platform from Vodafone helps physicians to respond quickly.

Maestros Mediline Systems Limited, a leader in design of Diagnostic and Patient Monitoring Devices, has developed eUNO R10 in association with Vodafone network.
Maestros has developed a series of specialist products targeted towards remote patient monitoring and telemedicine applications.
Carried by mobile paramedics, these specialist devices record heart performance and when connected to the Internet, send the relevant information to the medial records server, which then automatically ‘pushes’ the ECG report to a doctor’s BlackBerry phone over the Vodafone.
