Contour USB is compact, rectangular device with a USB connector on one end and a slot for glucose test strips, which collect the blood from the droplet, on the other.

Bayer’s Contour USB has innovative built-in USB technology that allows patients to simply plug in to gain knowledge about trends and patterns in their blood glucose levels.

Contour USB plugs right into a PC or Mac without the need for any cables, and contains—built right in—software which could be run on computer and analyze test results.

The face of Contour USB device has a color screen and three buttons. It launches directly from the meter’s internal memory, which also contains test results.

Contour USB is also integrated with Glucofacts Deluxe diabetes management software for easy retrieval of data and longer-term tracking and analysis of blood glucose test results.

Glucofacts Deluxe software reads the glucose results from the meter, and displays them in various logs, charts and graphs, which can be printed out or saved as a file on the computer.

Contour USB’s color screen, by default, asks the user to mention whether the reading was taken before or after a meal. But this feature can be turned off. And there’s an option that allows you to add a note, like “sick,” or “stress”.

Contour USB helps the user to see the trends in glucose levels over time.

The user can provide the printouts to the doctor or email the files containing the data.

Contour USB also stores up to 2,000 test results, features a bright color display, includes intuitive pre/post-meal marking, comes with 500MB of extra memory for storage of personal diabetes information and a rechargeable battery.

No coding technology, no interference with maltose, galactose, and oxygen and automatic correction for hematocrit and common interfering substances (e.g., acetaminophen, ascorbic acid), as well as a 5-second test time and small (0.6 ?L) sample size.

The Contour USB meter uses Contour blood glucose test strips currently available for other Contour meters.

The suggested retail price for Bayer’s CONTOUR USB meter kit (including 25 CONTOUR Test Strips, 25 Colored MICROLET2 Lancets, GLUCOFACTS Deluxe Software & more) is $74.99.
