Winona Ryder is on the comeback trail. She has signed on for Daniel Waters' Sex and Death 101 according to the Hollywood reporter.
Daniel Waters is writing and directing the movie. Waters had written Heathers that had established Winona Ryder as the Gen X girl.
Waters will shoot the movie at a budget of less than $10 million in the next six weeks in Los Angeles.
Ryder plays a feminist vigilante who becomes an urban folk hero in Sex and Death 101. The story revolves around a man (Simon Baker) who world is turned upside down when he receives a mysterious email that contains a list of 101 names of women--women he has sex with and those he will have sex with in the future. He is taken on by Ryder, who targets men guilty of sex crimes.
The other members of the cast are Julie Bowen (Boston Legal) who plays No.29 on Baker's list of conquests and Dash Mihok (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang) who plays Lester, one of Baker's best buds. The movie will be "hard R" for nudity.
As of now it remains to be seen if Waters can do for Ryder what he did for her in Heathers and rejuvenate her sagging career. Ryder fans sure hope that.
