Parminder Nagra will do a nude scene in Compulsion TV movie

“I always said I’d never do a nude scene but now I have. I know there will be a huge fuss when Compulsion comes out. It’s partly because of the fact I’m Asian. People don’t expect me to do that. I never expected myself to do that,” Nagra told Daily Mail online.

“My mum will probably disapprove but I’ll deal with that. I’m old enough now to make decisions like this,” she added.

It is surprising that Parminder Nagra expects her Compulsion movie nude scenes to create a fracas, considering she has already nude scenes in the 2003 Second Generation TV movie, directed by Jon Sen.

It beats me why she has to worry about giving coronaries to her mother or the Asian community now.

I am sure they would have stopped waving their “Save Indian Culture” flags after watching Nagra’s nude scenes in Second Generation.

In Second Generation she plays a young unconventional girl who breaks away from her traditional, rigid family to make her own life. She comes back when her father is dying, and finds herself having to deal with her family all over again.

In Compulsion, too, she plays a young successful woman, Anjika Indrani, who is asked by her father to marry a business associate.

Anjika is offered a way out of the arranged marriage by her chauffeur, Don Flowers (Ray Winstone), on the condition that she spends a night with him.

Compulsion has been written by Joshua St Johnston and directed by Sarah Harding.

The rest of Compulsion’s cast includes Ben Aldridge, Vincent Ebrahim, James Floyd, Veena Sood, Emily Wachter, Sargon Yelda, Bhasker Patel, and Emma Campbell-Webster.

Compulsion will be aired on ITV1 on May 4, 2009.

34-year-old Parminder Nagra was born in Leicester, England. She shot to fame with the 2002 Bend It Like Beckam, directed by Gurinder Chadha, in which she co-starred with Keira Knightley and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

The movie was a runaway hit and won Parminder many nominations, and the Best Actress Golden Wave Award at the Bordeaux International Festival of Women in Cinema, in 2002.

She also won a Movieline Young Hollywood Award for best breakthrough performance in Bend It Like Beckam.

After Bend It like Beckam, things were a bit quiet for Parminder, unlike Keira Knightley who hit the big time with the Pirates of the Caribbean series, despite being
the second lead in Bend It Like Beckam.

Things looked up for Parminder Nagra after she got a movie role in Ella Enchanted, and a TV part Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, followed by a lead role in the TV
film Second Generation.

She won the Best Television Actress Ethnic Multicultural Media Award in 2004, for her role in Second Generation.

In 2003, Nagra joined the cast of ER and appeared in 21 of the 22 episodes in the season.

Parminder Nagra won an award for Outstanding Female Television Performance, at the 2006 Asian Excellence Award, for ER.

She has also received the Honorary Degree of Doctors of Letters by the University of Leicester.

Daily Mail Online quoted Nagra as saying, “Bend It Like Beckham was my breakthrough film, but for years after the only movies I was offered were about
arranged marriages. Then I got onto ER and things changed.”

The actress has joined the cast of Batman: Gotham Knight animated movie in which she will lend her voice to the character of Cassandra.

Instead the movie will go straight to DVD and Blue-Ray on June 9, 2009. The news will disappoint a lot of those waiting see Jessica Biel strip in the movie. On the other hand, buy the Powder Blue DVD and you have naked Jessica Biel at home. Not a bad prospect, right?

The movie stars Forest Whitaker, Patrick Swayze,  Kris Kristofferson, Eddie Redmayne, and Ray Liotta.

Set in Los Angeles, Powder Blue weaves together stories of four people, whose lives intersect on Christmas Eve. There is Rose-Johnny (Jessica Biel) who plays a single mother stripping to save her dying son.

Patrick Swayze plays the vulgar owner of the strip club where Rose-Johnny strips.

Eddie Redmayne plays a mortician in love with Rose-Johnny, Whittaker potrays will play a suicidal ex-priest, and Alejandro Romero plays a transsexual prostitute who finds a  fortuitous common ground with Whitaker.

Powder Blue has been written and directed by Timothy Linh-Bui.

Jessica Biel is best known for her role in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry (2007), The Illusionist (2006), and Next (2007).

Her last release is the 2009 Easy Virtue, directed by Stephan Elliot, starring Colin Firth, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Ben Barnes.

Jessica Biel’s forthcoming movies include Nailed and Planet 51. Nailed is a romantic comedy, in which Jessica Biel plays a young woman who gets a nail lodged in her head, by accident. She goes to Washington seeking better treatment and ends up falling in love with senator Howard Birdwell, played by Jake Gyllenhall.

Nailed, directed by David O. Russell and co-written by Kristin Gore, also stars James Marsden and Catherine Keener.

Planet 51, is an animated film, produced by Ilion Animation Studios and directed by Jorge Blanco.

Timothy Linh-Bui is the director of Green Dragon, and producer-co-writer of Three Seasons. He has also exec-produced Owl and The Sparrow (2007), My Name Is..(2007), and Wonderful Tonight (2003).

In the movie, Scarlett Johansson is spotted skinny-dipping in a pool to seduce Bradley Cooper who plays a married man.

He’s Just Not That Into You is based on a self-help bestseller by the same name, written by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo.

The movie revolves around commitment and relationship messes that young people frequently find themselves in. In the movie there is Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin) who is abyssmal at gauging the level of interest men have in her. Neil (Ben Affleck) and Beth (Jennifer Aniston) have lived in for many years, yet Neil gets cold feet when it comes to marriage.

Unhappy marrieds Janine (Jennifer Connelly) and Ben (Bradley Cooper) are trying to work through marriage issues, when Ben meets Anna (Scarlett Johansson) and falls for her. Who can blame him? A nude Scarlett Johansson frolicking in a pool; the poor bugger doesn’t have a hope in hell.

Anna, on the other hand, has a boyfriend Connor (Kevin Connolly), she is not really into, but he is into her, alright.

I don’t if the nude avatar is a wise idea of Scarlett Johansson – most actresses who have appeared in the buff in the movies have been seriously stereotyped. Sharon Stone, Jessica Biel, Bo Derek, Salma Hayek, Natalie Portman, Halle Berry, and Carmen Electra.

But then, since this seems to be a light-hearted role, Scarlett might escape from being tarred by the same brush. We, at any rate, are not complaining.

Jennifer Aniston, on the other hand, is just not into the title of the movie. She is reported to have said that it the title would have been more empowering if it was She’s Just Not That Into You. True Enough.

She has been quoted as saying, “I never liked Sex and the City, the kind of thing where women only feel empowered once they find “The Man.”

He’s Just Not That Into You is being produced by Drew Barrymore’s Flower Films and directed by Ken Kwapis.

The complete star cast includes Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson, Justin Long, Jennifer Connelly, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kevin Connolly, and Bradley Cooper.

He’s Just Not That Into You will be released on February 6, 2009.
