What exactly is happening with Karma and Holi?

Karma Aur Holi, earlier titled Karma, Confessions, and Holi, is set for a March 2009 release, but all is not hunky dory with lead actress Sushmita Sen refusing to promote the film calling it undignified, co-star and ex-flame Randeep Hooda calling her behavior unprofessional, and the director, Manish Gupta, expressing general bewilderment.

Is the falling out genuine or is it some sort of gimmick to promote the movie?

Some reports say that Sushmita Sen has said that she will not promote the movie if Randeep Hooda is around. Other reports quote her saying that the movie is disrespectful to relationships and she wants nothing to do with it. Yet other reports say she is demanding that certain intimate scenes involving her and Randeep Hooda be deleted.

Now, she can’t be saying all of these things at the same time. Unless she is reacting to the kind of underhand promotion that does happen, largely, just before the release of a movie. For instance, just when a movie is about to release, rumors start floating about the lead pair, or their other personal relationships are raked up.

It can’t be that every lead pair in every movie is having an affair, at the time the movie is released.

Karma Aur Holi will be released on March 6, 2009.

The movie stars Sushmita Sen, Randeep Hooda, Rati Agnihotri, Suresh Oberoi, Deepal Shaw, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy, Naomi Campbell, Drena De Niro, rapper Sticky Fingaz, and Vincent Pannetta.

The movie has been produced by Drena De Niro, Robert De Niro’s daughter.

Karma Aur Holi is about the cultural conflicts that poor NRIs have to deal with (yawn) when it comes to relationships. Married couple Meera (Sen) and Dev (Hooda) live in New York. Their marriage has lots its zing after a few years of being married. They plan a Holi bash and invite an unholy bunch of people to the party.

A few drinks down, the rambunctious guests start spilling their most private secrets for kicks, but all hell breaks loose as the game spins out of control.

Karma Aur Holi will be Sushmita Sen’s next release after a gap of two years. Her last movie was the eminently forgettable Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag.

In 2009, Sushmita Sen will also be seen in Dulha Mil Gaya with Shahrukh Khan, and a Tamil flick Marmayogi.

Randeep Hooda’s last movie was Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye (2009), which tanked at the box office.
