Sonu Sood, who looks and sounds like the young Amitabh Bachchan, will now get to enact a few Amitabh characters along with those of other superstars, in his forthcoming flick, Dhoondte Reh Jaoge.

Sonu Sood plays eleven characters in the movie.

He will play characters from movies, such as Sholay, Deewar, Lagaan, and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge to name a few.

Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge also stars Kunal Khemu, Paresh Rawal, Soha Ali Khan, Johnny Lever, Deepal Shaw, Asrani, and Zayed Khan.

The movie has been written and directed by Umesh Shukla, and the music has been composed by Sajid Ali and Wajid Ali.

Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge will be released on March 29, 2009.

Sonu Sood has said that the movie revolves around a superstar who is in love with an ordinary girl, played by Soha Ali Khan.

Sonu Sood was last seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi with Ishaa Koppikar. The movie sank at the box office, but Sonu was appreciated for his performance in the movie. Sonu Sood also had an important cameo in Jodhaa Akbar, with Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai.

Sonu will be next seen in the much-anticipated Tabu-Amitabh Bachchan starrer, The Legend of Kunal, where he will play the younger son, Teevar, of King Asoka (Amitabh Bachchan). Tabu will play the role of  Queen Tishyarakshita, while Arjun Rampal will play the role of King Asoka’s elder son Kunal, and Amrita Rao will play his wife, Kanchanmala. Directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, The Legend of Kunal is the story of the sexual attraction between Queen Tishyarakshita and Kunal, while King Asoka and princess Kanchanmala look on.

In 1981, another Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge!, also a wacky comedy, was released. It was written and directed by Kumar Bhatia, and starred Javed Jaffrey, Tinnu Anand, Prem Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah, Satish Shah, and Amrish Puri.

I hope this Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge doesn’t share the fate of its older namesake, although it is an optimistic thought, given the fate of movies like these at the box office recently, Paresh Rawal or no Paresh Rawal. In fact, despite having a first-rate actor like Vinay Pathak and being a rip-roaring comedy, Ohh My God flopped, largely because, I suspect, no one gave the movie a chance.
