Another movie to look forward to in 2009, is Siddharth – The Prisoner, starring Rajat Kapoor (Bheja Fry, Monsoon Wedding).

Siddharth – The Prisoner will be released on Feb 27, 2009. Apart from Rajat Kapoor, the movie stars Pradip Sagar, Sachin Nayak, and Pradeep Kharab.
The Indie movie is directed by Pryas Gupta, and produced by Pryas Gupta, Rohan Gupta, and Sandeep Hooda.
Siddharth – The Prisoner is the story of a famous writer, Siddharth Roy, who has been sent to prison. When he comes out of prison, he writes a new manuscript and hopes to reinstate himself in society with the new book as well as win back his wife, Maya.
Unfortunately, Siddharth Roy loses the manuscript when his briefcase gets accidentally exchanged with another briefcase at a cyber cafe. Siddharth finds a lot of cash in the briefcase that he picks up by mistake. Meanwhile, the cyber cafe owner, Mohan, is desperately trying to recover the briefcase.
Siddharth is reunited with his son with the help of a housemaid. He runs into Mohan and they decide to exchange the two briefcases. Siddharth whose hopes go up at the thought of regaining the manuscript plans to run away with his son to another city and start over.
Siddharth – The Prisoner won the Jury Grand Prize at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards 2008.
Rajat Kapoor was last seen in Dasvidanya (2008) with Vinay Pathak. His other releases in 2009 include Rang Rasiya with Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen, I Am 24 with Ranvir Shorey and Neha Dhupia, and Raat Gayi, Baat Gayi again with Ranvir Shorey and Neha Dhupia.
Rajat Kapoor is also a theater person, writer and director. He has penned the script of Mithya (2008), Mixed Doubles (2006), and the screenplay of Raghu Romeo (2003), and Private Detective: Two Plus Two Plus One (1997).
