2008 Oscar awards Best Picture poster
unveiled
28 January, 2007 BY SHUBIR RISHI The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the latest edition of its Best Picture poster in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Academy Awards. The poster has been designed by Alex Swart. Featuring a spiraling gold ribbon containing the one-sheets for all the Best Picture winners and forming the shape of the Oscar statuette, the poster incorporates art from all the Best Picture winners in a single iconic shape that expressed the continuum that is Oscar. Currently only the 79 known Best Picture Oscar winners are shown in the poster. The 80th Best Picture Oscar winner will be added on Oscar Sunday on the day of the presentations, immediately following the Academy Awards night. The 27 x 40-inch poster is printed on premium quality, Forest Stewardship Certified paper and will be available for purchase on the Academy’s website. Posters will be shipped in March 2008. The website says that Swart, who is head of the marketing design agency SwartAd, had designed the official posters of the 73rd and 75th Academy Awards as well as previous editions of the Best Picture poster. The Academy Awards ceremony will be held on Feb 24, 2008, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center. The mega event will be televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PT. The Oscar award presentation also will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.
