Michael Douglas to star in Solitary Man
Michael Douglas is back in the limelight with two new roles that he has taken up. On the heels of Steven Soderbergh’s Liberace, comes Millennium Films’ Solitary Man.
In Liberace, Michael Douglas will play the flamboyant pianist and in Solitary Man he plays a sex-addict car magnate.
Solitary Man is scripted by Brian Koppelman and David Levien, and directed by Brian Koppelman. Solitary Man will go into production in November 2008, in New York.
Brian Koppelman and David Levien have directed the 2005 TV series Tilt and the movie Knockaround Guys. The duo have also scripted Steven Soderbergh’s next The Girlfriend Experience.
Solitary Man will be produced by Paul Schiff and Steven Soderbergh. The executive producers are Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Joe Gatta, Moshe Diamant and Danny Dimbort.
In Solitary Man, Michael Douglas plays the role of an ex-owner of a car dealership chain who axed his own career and marriage with his indiscriminate liaisons.

Michael Douglas to star in Liberace
In real life too, Michael Douglas carried the reputation of being a philanderer and sex addict. According to Guardian, Douglas’ first wife, Diandra Douglas, nĂ©e Luker, left him because, she said, she was sick of his philandering, absenteeism and inability to be a good father to his son Cameron.
Michael Douglas’s Liberace is likely to go into production after Solitary Man, due to director Steven Soderbergh’s busy schedule. The role of Liberace, tipped to be an Oscar-winning one, is another chance for the 64-year-older one-time Oscar winner, to add a feather to his cap.
Liberace will also star, Matt Damon as Scott Thornson, Liberace’s lover who sued the flashy pianist for $ 60 million alimony after an acrimonious split. Liberace is said to denied being gay throughout his lifetime.
