Joyce Carol Oates’ 2003 dark novella, Rape: A Love Story, will soon be adapted for the big screen, Variety has reported.

The movie Rape: A Love Story will star Maria Bello, Abigail Breslin, and Samuel L. Jackson.
The movie will be directed by Harold Becker, produced by Michael Mendelsohn, and adapted for the screen by John Mankiewicz.

Rape: A Love Story is about a young woman, Teena, and her 12-year-old daughter, Bethie. Teena is brutally raped and left for dead, in front of her daughter. She testifies against the four men who assaulted her, is terrorized and pressured by the men who live in the same town, and has to deal with court politics and unprincipled lawyers.

Samuel L. Jackson will play a good cop in Rape: A Love Story
Teena and Bethie find a protector in a just and honest ex-military cop, who had rescued them after the rape, played by Samuel L. Jackson.
Samuel L. Jackson next few releases are Quantum Quest: A Space Odyssey, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Bastards, and Unthinkable in 2009. He will also be seen in Iron Man 2, Thor, in 2010, and The First Avenger: Captain America, and The Avengers in 2011.
The Shattered: Butterfly On a Wheel actress, Maria Bello’s last movie was the 2008 The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. She will be next seen in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, that will be released in 2009.
Abigail Breslin, the Oscar-nominated star of Little Miss Sunshine, will be seen in My Sister’s Keeper (based on the book of the same name, by author Jodi Picoult), Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey and Dear Eleanor.
Variety has said that Breslin with act with Johnny Depp in Gore Verbinski’s animated flick Rango, and do the voiceover of the lead character in The Wild Bunch.
She will also star with Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Emma Stone in Zombieland.
