Mamootty and Gracy Singh in Loudspeaker

Malayalam superstar Mamootty and Jayaraj will team up after a long span of 17 years in their upcoming  movie ‘Loudspeaker’. The last project they did together was Johnny Walker in 1992. But the surprise package for this movie comes not from the the actor; Bollywood actress Gracy Singh will play the female protagonist in the movie.

Gracy Singh is famous for her role in the Oscar nominated flick ‘Lagaan’ opposite Amir Khan, as well as the original Munnabhai MBBS movie (2003) with Sanjay Dutt. The movie Lagaan bought Gracy lots of awards including Screen Weekly Award for Most Promising Female Newcomer, International Indian Film Academy Special Award for Face of the Year and Zee Cine Popular Award for Best Debut Female.

Gracy Singh is not exactly Bollywood hot property despite Lagaan and Munnabhai, her two big hits – but she is a reasonably good actress.

Gracy Singh’s other movies so far include Santosham (2002), Wajahh: A Reason to Kill (2004), The White Land (2005) and Chooriyan (2007). She has also worked in movies like Hu Tu Tu (1999) and Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain (1999).

Gracy Singh started her career as a member of the dance group “The Planets”. But she was noticed after her performance and talent was showcased by the television soap opera ‘Amaanat’ which attracted the attention of many moviemakers.

The movie Loudspeaker will be scripted by Renjith. The movie is about a farmer called ‘Mike’ Gopalan because he speaks too loud – Mammootty will essay his role. The cast of Loudspeaker also includes other Malayalam stars like Jagathy Sreekumar, Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Salim Kumar, Suraaj Venjaramoodu, Cochin Haneefa, Augustine, Ajayan (Pakru) etc. Bijibal will direct the notes for the lyrics penned by Anil Panachooran, where as K.U Mohanan who already proved his worth with great camera work in movies like Don, Aaja Nachle will be the cinematographer for Loudspeaker. This will be a big budget movie, at a time when big budget movies are a risky proposition in Malayalam – and will be produced by Time Ad Release.
