Ever since Ashutosh Gowarikar announced his Jodha- Akbar period epic, he has
been fighting controversies too. Allegations ranged from animals being ill-treated to twisting historical facts with regard to Jodhabai’s portrayal.
It may be recalled that the director had received a notice following a petition by the Rajput community urging him to desist from wrongly portraying Jodhabai in his historical love story. He even had to travel all the way to a court in Rajasthan to defend himself against the charge.
Ashutosh can't even speak out what he intends to as the matter is sub-judice. However, he says he has no intentions of distorting history and that he had researched for four years before finally scripting his film.
Meanwhile, the People For Animals (PFA), an animal lovers’ outfit has come to the fore attacking Gowariar for letting people ill treat animals on the sets of his film. The body has even filed a police complaint alleging that animals were being treated badly in the film and has urged the Rajasthan chief minister to order an investigation.
Gowariker meanwhile is clear on what he is doing,. He reiterates that no animal is being ill treated. He says he is aware that awareness about animal rights is much higher than in the olden days .
