IIFA awards: Rang De Black
It was Black all the way at the IIFA awards 2006, as expected.

The 7th annual IIFA film festival held from June 14 - 17 in Dubai culminated in the awards ceremony on Friday. Predictably, the top awards went to Black, which won Amitabh Bachchan the best actor, Rani Mukherjee the best actress, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali the best director award. The film also won the Best Picture award.
Ayesha Kapoor, who played the young Rani Mukherjee, won the Best Supporting Actor (female) award.
Abhishek Bachchan walked away with the Best Supporting Actor award for Sarkar. Shiney Ahuja won the award for Best Male Debut for Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi while Vidya Balan bagged the award for the Best Female Debut for Parineeta.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy won the award for Best Music in Bunty aur Babli. Himesh Reshammiya bagged the Best Male Singer award. Alisha Chinai won the award for Best Female Singer for Kajre Re. Gulzar took home the Best Lyrics award for the same song.
The three-hour ceremony included performances by Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and Rani Mukerji.
As for the technical awards, Black sweeped the awards for cinematography, editing, song recording, and background score. Parineeta won awards for makeup and costume, sound recording, art direction, and screenplay.
The Best Dialogue award went to Prakash Jha for Apharan. The best choreography award was bagged by Vaibhavi Merchant for Kajre Re from Bunty Aur Babli. The best action award went to Allan Amin for Dus. The best song recording award went to P. Balaraman for Aashiq Banaya Aapne.
IIFA has shown 32 Indian feature films including 16 Hindi films, 14 south Indian films, 1 Bengali, 1 Marathi and six short films at the festival.
IIFA also premiered Jagmohan Mundhra's Provoked starring Aishwarya Rai. The premiere, held at the Grand Cineplex in Dubai, was attended by Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar.
