for popularising Swiss locales.

Indian celluloid icon Yash Chopra and son Aditya never would have imagined such a laurel coming their way when they completed shooting Dilwale Dulahiya Le Jayenge, way back in 1995.
If you could remember, the SRK-Kajol flick was shot extensively in Switzerland. And now years later, Switzerland has decided to repay Chopra for popularising Swiss locales among the Indian cinema players. The Consulate General of Switzerland in India organised a formal dinner to felicitate the unit of the Yash Chopra super hit for its successful running for over 500 weeks.
And look who were among those VIP guests! Bollywood ka Shahensha Amitabh Bachchan was the chief guest at the event held Tuesday evening in Hotel Taj Lands End. Marco Solari, Switzerland Tourism Board member, was the guest of honour. The Ambassador of Switzerland in India, Dominique Dreyer, and the Consul General in Mumbai, Josef W. Eisele, were among those present .
The Swiss government’s representatives gave away mementos to Yash Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Singer Lata Mangeshkar, who sang some of the hit songs of the film, also was felicitated. Among the other awardees were Mandira Bedi, Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher, Satish Shah, Parmeet Sethi and Achala Sachdev. For those who can’t remember the characters other than Amrish Puri, Shah Rukh and Kajol, these actors had played their part in the success of the movie.
The Aditya Chopra directed Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
and had won a national award and finds a place in Bollywood history as the first to narrate a tale on NRIs.
And, when the Swiss gives you an award, you should
repay it in the same vein. So thought Yash Chopra too. He rose to the occasion at the venue by screening “Romance with Switzerland,’ a short film reminiscing his love affair with the locales of Switzerland.
