The winners of the 2008 Oscar awards were announced at the Oscar award ceremony on February 25, 2008 at the Kodak theater.

The 2008 Best Picture Oscar award winner is:

No Country For Old Men: A Scott Rudin/Mike Zoss Production; Miramax Films/Paramount Vantage

No Country for Old Men is written, directed, and produced by Joel and Ethan Coen. The drama thriller is based on the novel of the same name by Cormac McCarthy. The film stars Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem.

The other nominees for the Best Picture 2008 Oscar awards were:

1) Atonement: Working Title Films Limited; Focus Features

Atonement, directed by Joe Wright, is based on the novel Atonement by Ian McEwan. The movie stars Keira Knightley and James McAvoy. The screenplay was writen by Christopher Hampton. Atonement is the story of a young writer, Briona Tellis, who has a crush on her housekeeper's son, Robbie Turner (McEwan), who is turn in love with her sister Cecilia (Knightey). Because of her envy and misunderstandings, she accuses Robbie of a serious crime he did not commit. The drama unfolds, as that one act has catastrophic results for all of them.

2) Michael Clayton: Samuels Media and Castle Rock Entertainment a Mirage Enterprises/Section 8 Production; Warner Bros. Pictures

Michael Clayton is a law thriller starring George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, and Tilda Swinton. The dramatic thriller is written and directed by Tony Gilroy.

3) There Will Be Blood: A Joanne Sellar/Ghoulardi Film Company Production; Paramount Vantage/Miramax Films

There will Be Blood is written, produced and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The movie, starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Dano, is based on the book Oil! by Upton Sinclair.

4) Juno: Mandate Pictures/Mr. Mudd Production; Fox Searchlight Pictures

Juno is a comedy starring Ellen Page, Michael Cera,Jennifer Garner, and Jason Bateman. The movie is directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody. Juno revolves around a a sarcastic young teen, Juno, who has to deal with an unplanned pregnancy.
