Hydrogen car dreamers and those who dream of a gasless world, wake up. Your own hydrogen supercar is here.
The just unveiled Ronn Motors Scorpion is a supercar that offers 0 to 60 mph times of in 3.5 seconds. And you get 40 MPG.
And as you can in the photo gallery on this page, the Scorpion is a looker too.
The Ronn Motors Scorpion hydrogen supercar manages this feat using the Hydrorunner G3 – it is an onboard water and electrolysis unit that produces hydrogen-on-demand. The Scorpion will offer fuel efficiency figures of 27 MPG even without the Hydrorunner G3. But the addition of the hydrogen production unit changes the entire game. What you end up with is fuel figures better than most econo-miser cars
There is a bit of worry though. Ronn Motors says that their engineering team ‘expects’ 40 MPG. Which means they have not really tested it out with the Hydrorunner G3. Or are we missing something here?
The expected launch of the Ronn Motors Scorpion will be end 2008.
According to the Hydrogen Cars Now blog which talked to the Vice President of Ronn Motors,
“The Scorpion has a curb weight of 2,100-pounds, 450 hp with dual turbos, an air conditioned engine and performance suspension. Top speed will be over 200 mph as is expected from a vehicle in the supercar class.”
Check Engine, the manufacturers of the HHO unit in the Scorpion, say that the electrolysis unit can use any kind of water for producing hydrogen.
The skeptics will believe all this when they finally see the car in metal. Remeber the big noise around the Tesla Electric Roadster last year? They proved they could produce an all electric sportscar, but the real buzz happened after saw it rolling. The same would apply to the Scorpion.
For the sake of those who are dead frustrated by the internal combustion world and the ridiculous gas price scenario, we wish the Scorpion is the first in a long line of cars which use hydrogen to increase their fuel efficiency – and who knows, one day run entirely on hydrogen.

Is it me, or does this look like the Buick Wildcat concept car? Either way, both are gorgeous.

Can I just stop at any hydrogen station or should I be picky about the brand. So many choice in hydrogen theses days, whats the consumer to do?

I love it but it does look like one of those “economy at any price” kind of deals.

Where is the energy coming from to run the electrolysis unit?

Sean, soon, hydrogen stations should arise, because one it is obviously at no harm to the environment, and two it is easily made with power and water, the hydrogen stations would not need to refuel themselves with hydrogen since it can be easily created at the station….downfall is its flammability.

Now, this would be the third time I saw these things – I was too young for the ’73 crisis, but in ’78, these came along with the energy-drive of the early ’80s. An employer of mine actually invested in a pyramid-scam built around these things in the late ’90s.
The fact is, they are fundamentally flawed in design. It takes just as much (electrical) energy to seperate the O2 and H2 as they produce when recombined (combust).
The electrolasys energy is hp taken directly off the crankshaft, via the alternator.
The net effect tends to be a few hp loss due to alternator drag, as well as the additional weight of the unit and electrolyte (water)
Many marketers have claimed huge gains due to a “catalytic” effect, but I’ve never seen an independant, objective test that shows any gain.
For retrofit to your existing engine, “water injection” is a simpler system that you can easily make yourself in an afternoon, and has been proven by the RAF and the USAF to improve hp and economy, while reducing emmissions. water injection is higher maintenance, but is very valid physics – Water expands 1700 times in volume as it turns to steam – Imagine THAT happening on your combustion/power stroke!

OK,
For all of you doubters….with new technology in energy, solar cells can collect more than adequate amounts of energy to be used to charge fuel cells (Lithium is not bad these days, I use them in all my portable power tools) that maybe used at anythime during the day for the speparation of the two elements (electrolasys). In addition, storage tanks can hold sufficient amonuts of the two gasses for initial ignition. Once ignition starts then it is fairly downhill with some loss to power to torque ratio if you do not have your vehicle geared appropriately. A six speed is much better than a three speed automatic.
Although water injection is great and my brother was messing around with that in the late 60′s on his ford 351C and it worked by the way; hydrogen fueled vehicles have been around much longer. The technology is just shelved and now more and more people are reinventing the wheel all the time and posting it on their College/University School webpages or collaboration sites and the big companies (OPEC, BP, SHELL, EXXON, etc.) cannot by them out fast enough not to share the information.
So invest your time and your money in a completey renewable non toxic energy; water! Grab a five gallon bottle of filtered water at your local grocery store and go to work or to the beach or where ever you want. You do not have to have hydrogen stations or plants. Normal tap water will work too but filtered water is much better for the internal components of your fine automobile.
Do some more research yourself. The information is out there just waiting for someone to read it.
Good luck.
I will be driving my Ronn “Match Box” reproduction ( thats right, Match Box. I have my orignial 1969 light lime green sports coupe from Match Box and Rons looks just like it (it also came int he same red as in the second photo)) High Mileage Per Gallon (HMPG) sports car when it is released for production.

I drive almost 100 miles a day round trip, just to get to and from work. Send me one and I will let you know in very short order how good it is. Happy to test it out for everyone. I would bet this bad boy costs more than my house, and probably everything else I own.

To all you unbelievers, and skeptics out there. The HHO revolution is up on us, and you will see more and of it around. I made a HHO generator and installed it on my 2005 H2 Hummer. I was getting 11.9 average MPG before the installation Of the generator. Now after many miles in the city and on the highway I am averaging 16.9 MPG and it has more power than it ever did along with many other advatages. You do the math and wake up it is for real.

“Expect to get 40 mpg” means they don’t even have a working prototype yet, which means they won’t be in production this year. “air conditioned engine” means either a typo, or they really don’t know what they are doing.
“Can we run our car with water and gas?” The engine runs on gasoline, a tiny amount of water can be sprayed in to inhibit knocking and allow higher compression for more power, but it doesn’t improve fuel economy. Too much water or accumulation of minerals from the water will definitely damage the engine. An interesting variation under development is a “6 cycle” engine, with an extra power stroke from injected water turning to steam that both cools the engine and improves efficiency. It requires a large tank of distilled water. It isn’t on the market yet.
“Can anybody tell me is the HHO Gas is real working or is another scam”
Both. Water can be electrolyzed to produce a flammable mixture of 2 parts H2 and 1 part O2, and that will indeed burn in an internal combustion engine. It is still an open question whether producing it onboard can actually produce any improvement in fuel economy at all, considering the power it uses. The minor scam is in the wildly exaggerated claims of improved fuel economy by those trying to sell these devices or plans for making them. Dennis Lee, currently promoting “HHO” under a pseudonym, once pled guilty to fraud in Washington and California involving a different free energy scam.
The major scam is from con artists pretending you can run your car on nothing but water, and using that spiel to sell worthless investments and “dealerships”. Stanley Meyers was convicted of fraud over this one, and others have copied that scam.

These are all just photoshopped images with “pie in the sky” claims. Show me one of the cars in an actual public settinng and some verified test results, then I might consider it real. Have to agree, right now it sounds like another scam.

I work for ronn and damon, this car is not a hydrogen fuel cell car it has a on board hydrogen generator that make hydrogen, This is not a scam the car was at sema show if you have any doubts. Ronn And Damon have worked very hard on this and you should check this out a little more before you say its a scam. we are out in Horseshoe Bay Texas.

The Scorpion is built like a cheap 1970′s kit car. The chassis layout is sub par and it is poorly constructed. I spoke with the young man that was in charge of the fabrication a few months back. He is a good guy that seems to be trying hard but he is in way over his head and underpaid as most of the other employee’s, so you get what you pay for. Also why build an American supercar with a Honda engine? P.S. I THINK that the Chinese have looked close at the G3 system and are implementing a HHO boost system on a <$10,000 econo car for worldwide market. So if you want junk quality you may be able to get it for a lot less but sub 200 mph.

I’ve seen this on TV before driven by the govenor of California. Arnold S. How much do they sell for or how long would I have to save before a car like this was affordable to a regular guy like me? Will it eventually come in a hard top? I love the car.
