We talked about the Reva NXR and the Reva NXG recently. The car has been launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2009 yesterday. For once, not many dislike Dilip Chhabria’s design. I have said this before – Dilip Chhabria either gets it right to amazing results, or they are a downright embarrassment to all of us. This time, he did the job, and how.
All those trespasses are forgiven when one looks at the Reva NXG’s photos here.

The new Reva NXG is one amazing looker. The design which previewed at the Frankfurt Motor Show is a two-seater. I am still not sure if this is the exact version which would appear on Indian and European roads, or this is more like a design study.
Anyway, Reva claims that the NXG has a 125 mile range on a full charge. That should translate to 201 kilometers. Now that is respectable range for a country like India where most drives are relatively short. And a small highway trip too can be made in the NXG if that figure is realistic.
Claimed top speed for the Reva NXG is 80 mph, or 128 kmph. That is brilliant for an electric car, and is more than what most people would need.
The Reva NXG is not exactly cheap, however. In Europe, it is expected to be priced at 23000 euros. That is 16.25 lakhs! Anyone in India who can afford that would prefer to buy a Toyota Fortuner or Honda CR-V, I am sure! However, if and when the NXG makes it to India, it would probably feature cheaper batteries and almost no creature comforts.
