Proton intros GEN-2 in UK

The Proton GEN-2 has debuted in the United Kingdom. The new hatchback and sedan versions of the GEN-2 is now available in dealerships across the UK and is seen as a model that would see more popularity.

The GEN-2 has debuted with 1.3 and 1.6 litre Lotus engineered CamPro engines that deliver a maximum output of 110bhp and 148Nm of torque. As in all Proton vehicles, the GEN-2 also has a 6 year per 100,000 mile powertrain warranty, 3 year per 60,000 mile total vehicle warranty and three years free RAC cover.

An anti-lock braking system with electronic brake distribution has been incorporated as standard along with side impact bars, crumple zones and anti-roll bar. The new car boasts of a new sporty interior with red trim on the seats, doors and steering wheel as well as a re-designed dashboard and handbrake.

The GLS model of GEN-2 comes with a new cloth interior, while the 1.6 GSX model comes with leather seats. Features such as automatic central locking, remote operated boot release and door mounted window switches are tae offs from the earlier GEN-2 Persona launched in March 2008. Other features include, reverse distance sensors and power assisted steering that help in a stress-free drive. To add to the safety and protection measures, an engine immobiliser, alarm with ignition lock protection and remote central locking have been included.

The GSX model of the new GEN-2 sports new alloy wheels, an aggressive bumper and grille giving it an aerodynamic advantage. An integrated Blaupunkt radio/CD player with RDS and a four way speaker system complete the entertainment division.

The GEN-2 models can be bought by shelling out £8,995 if you are in the United Kingdom.
