Hodna has released a few teaser photos, and some information – nothing concrete. Even the teaser photos are barely so – just the roofline is visble. Hopefully priot to the reveal of the Acura ZDX prototype, Honda would release a few more photos.

Acura vehicles are known for their performance, design and their state-of-the-art technology. Jeff Conrad, vice president, Acura sales said that the Acura ZDX prototype “showcases a new level of luxury, style and refinement for Acura and speaks volumes towards our commitment to advancing the brand.”

Acura ZDX is expected to give some tough competition to Mercedes-Benz CLS  and the BMX X6. The four doored Acura ZDX will perhaps be offer a V6 engine, fastback silhouette and trapezoidal wraparound taillamps. The prototype ZDX also features striking coupe-like styling and is all set to redefine style in the crossover segment. However not much information about the vehicle has been revealed yet.

It is quite likely that the specifications of the Acura ZDX will match or exceed that of the BMW X6, its direct competitor. The production version of the Acura ZDX is expected to hit the markets by 2009 fall season.

There is no further information available on the chocie of engines, specifications or price of the Acura ZDX either. We hope that a bit more detaisl would be revealed at the 2009 New York Auto show which would start next week.

The Acura ZDX was developed by the engineers at Honda’s assembly plant in Alliston, Ontario. It may not be entirely wrong to the ZDX to be an upgraded version of Acura MDX.

Other than the BMW X6, another competitor would be the Nissan Infiniti FX35. The BMW X6 is priced at $ 56,000 to $ 67,000, and the Nissan Infiniti has a price tag of $ 43,000 to 45,000. The Acura ZDX will likely be priced closer to the price tag of the FX35, we think but at this point, its just a guess.

The Acura ZDX prototype will be introduced at the New York International Auto Show on April 8th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Acura booth and the production version is to hit the stores this fall. Experts also believe that Acura could position the ZDX as an X6 competitor.

The luxury automaker Acura was the first Japanese luxury brand to be available in North America, followed by Toyota’s “Lexus” and Nissan’s “Infiniti” brands. Acura was launched by the Honda Motor Corporation in 1986 as its luxury division. The new technologies being incorporated recently are satellite-linked navigation and Bluetooth wireless.
