Lamborghini unveiled its widely anticipated Lamborghini Estoque on October 2, 2008, at the Paris Auto Show.
Prior to the Paris Motor Show, Lamborghini had teased us with some photos – and we had published a story saying that the car might be called the Lamborghini Urus. Well, its not, and we are wrong.
The Lamborghini Estoque concept is a four door sedan on the lines of the Porsche Panamera. It is 5.15 meters (16.89 feet) in length, 1.99 meters (6.53 feet) in width, and 1.35 metres (4.43 feet) in height. The wheelbase of the Lamborghini Estoque is 3.01 meters (9.88 feet). With those dimensions, we suspect it would not even fit into most garages!
The looks of the concept four door car are all Lamborghini – as you can see from the photo gallery on this page, its a look that is difficult to dislike. The front end of the Lamborghini Estoque is V-shaped with big air intakes that provide cooling air, and a spoiler in the middle that enables aerodynamic efficiency. The 22 inch wheels come with a five double-spoke design.
The Lamborghini Estoque comes with a permanent all-wheel drive that provides engine power to all four wheels, which enables good traction in challenging driving situations.
The rear end of the Lamborghini Estoque has LED light clusters below which the mesh-covered lower air inlets are placed.
The front head lamps will be equipped with bi-Xenon and LED technology.
Lamborghini has said that the Lamborghini Estoque may be part of a third model series within the Lamborghini product line-up.
The Lamborghini Estoque has been described as an everyday sportscar than can serve as a supersports car as well as a family car. The four seats and and ample luggage space – more than most sports
cars – helps it store weekend baggage as well as golf bags and such like. This is unlike other Lamborghini models that seat two people and have the big engine at the rear.
The Lamborghini Estoque’s engine will use a mid-engine design. Lamborghini has listed engine possibilities but has not committed on which engine will be used in the Lamborghini Estoque.
The options listed by Lamborghini include a ten-cylinder from the Gallardo LP 560-4, a turbocharged eight-cylinder V10, a V8 with a hybrid module, or a high-performance TDI is also an option.
The interiors of the Lamborghini Estoque are plush and spacious. The length allows relaxed seating for long trips. The seats are covered in Nappa Leather. The cockpit of the Lamborghini Estoque has a large LCD screen that provides vehicle and route information to the driver. The LCD screen comes with different presentation options, such as a digital display or a classic circular instrument dial display.
The Lamborghini Estoque is expected to take on Aston Martin’s Rapide and Porsche’s Panamera, which will be launched in 2009. There is enough here for them to panic, for sure.
Reuters has quoted Chief Executive Stephan Winkelmann as saying that the Lamborghini Estoque is likely to cost more than 160,000 euros – same as that of a Gallardo.
Lamborghini has said that the Lamborghini Estoque derives its name from a 90-cm long rapier used by Matadors in bull fights.
