InnoTrans 2008: Bombardier TALENT2 train and ECO4 tech

InnoTrans 2008, which got underway on September 23 in Berlin, has showcased many an innovative rail product. Making its presence felt is Bombardier Transportation with as many as seven vehicles on display.

Bombarder’s showcase includes two vehicle world premieres and the launch of a portfolio of energy and cost saving technologies. With InnoTrans having been recognized as the biggest fair for the rail industry, Bombardier Transportation has chosen the platform to do the double world-premieres of the new Bombardier Talent 2 regional train and the Bombardier Flexity Berlin tram. In addition to these and other vehicles, it will also launch Bombardier Eco4, a new portfolio of technologies, products and services for total train performance.

The Bombardier TALENT2 is a commuter / regional train which allows for a wide variety of configurations with its modular structure. Changeover from commuter to regional train is easy, and trains doors can be rearranged too. Bombardier said that The TALENT2 train’s EMU offers more passenger comfort as well as energy and maintenance cost savings.

The Eco4 has been termed an innovative portfolio of technologies, products and services that maximize energy efficient operation and total train performance. The Eco4 family of EcoActive technologies include technologies such as AeroEfficient Optimized Train Shaping software that enables reduction in aerodynamic drag by 25 per cent, saving energy for traction use. Besides, the Thermo Efficient Climatization System, Bombardier Mitrac Permanent Magnet Motor, Bombardier EBI Drive 50 Driver Assistance System, EnerGplan Simulation Tool, MITRAC Energy Saver, Primove Catenary-free Operation and the Bombardier Flexx Tronic Technology are also part of the technologies that the company boasts of.

Among the other Bombardier Transportation vehicles present at the show are Bombardier Traxx locomotive, Talent 2 regional train, Flexity Berlin light rail vehicle, Flexity Frankfurt light rail vehicle, Hybrid AGC regional train, Bombardier Spacium 3.O6 commuter train and the  Bombardier Flexx Track System.
