Hyundai has said that the Hyundai Tucson ix35 takes its design cues from Hyundai’s new “fluidic sculpture” design.

Tucson models by Hyundai have been highly appreciated in the past, all over the world, with over 1 million units sold since 2004 when its first model was launched. The previous models featured a 1.6L direct-injected and turbocharged engine capable of generating 160hp.

In 2008, Hyundai had launched a new version of the Tucson with a new four-cylinder engine.

No significant design changes were made in the previous Tucson models giving the SUV a dated feel. The new Hyundai Tucson ix35 will change all that, going by the renderings.

The Hyundai Tucson ix35 SUV has been designed at the company’s European design center, Russelsheim, Germany, under head designer Tomas Buerkle. Hyundai has pumped in around $225 million to style the SUV, over a period of 36 months.

The new Hyundai Tucson ix35 will be launched in Seoul, Korea on August 25, 2009, and in the US in early 2010.

The Hyundai Tucson ix35 will go on sale in Korea under the same name. In the US, though, the SUV will be sold as the Hyundai Tucson.

The estimated price of the car is around $20,000. Firm details about the price and availability will be revealed at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Specifications of the Hyundai Tucson ix35 SUV, that will be launched in North America, will be revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show later in 2009, as per reports.

Readers of DanceWithShadows would remember that the initial launch of the Hyundai Tucson was a disaster in India. The Hyundai Terracan did not fare well either. But the new Tucson ix35 has the looks and the sophistication to make it big here in the Indian market. The question is, would Hyundai stay away from us after two flops?
