Hyundai i20 priced in UK to be lower than expected

Even as small cars to are commanding big prices, Hyundai is doing just the reverse. For its soon expected i20 model, Hyundai Motor is looking at a fair price strategy in the United Kingdom’s car mart even as car markets all over the world are seeing a cash crunch.

The UK industry buzz is that prices of hatchbacks has gone up of late and even a mid-range supermini now typically costs more than five-figures. Hyundai’s i20 will buck the trend.

The Hyundai i20 hatchback which will come with exceptional levels of space, quality and safety and also the dynamics that can take on and beat the best from Europe and Japan, will be priced at least £1,000 lower than the nearest competitors, it is expected.

As per UK industry guess-work, the entry level 1.2-litre Hyundai i20 Classic will start at just £8,195 for the three-door with a five door costing an extra £450.All models of the car will come incorporated with weather control, six airbags, active head restraints, remote locking, electric front windows and an aux-in socket. The company is also expected to offer Hyundai’s Five Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty.

Meanwhile, the mid-range Hyundai i20 Comfort model would start at £8,995 and will come with body colour door mirrors and handles, electric rear windows, full iPod integration, steering wheel mounted audio controls, a trip computer and a six-speaker system. Hyundai expects this model to go aead and be the best seller in UK.

The i20 will be powered by two new petrol and diesel engines, starting with an advanced 78PS 1.2-litre ‘Kappa’ petrol which is expected to be the range’s biggest seller. Its CO2 rating of just 124g/km is around 15g less than similarly-sized petrol engines from rivals and it returns 54.3 mpg on the combined cycle.

The new Hyundai i20 hatchback cars are said to have been built with focus on low-emission and high economy diesel power. Safety gets prime importance and Hyundai aims at making the i20 the safest car in the supermini class and has included active head restraints and a total of six airbags as standard.
