Korean auto major Hyundai Motor is seeing an unprecedented acceptance towards its Accent model in the US car market. Dubbed by the company as the most dependable and affordable sub-compact car, the 2009 Hyundai Accent model is available in the US has a starting price of US$9,970.

The pricing makes the 2009 Hyundai Accent the least expensive new car on the market. As per the J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study, the Accent has also been named the most dependable sub-compact car available in the US today. Hyundai has also described it as one of the most fuel efficient vehicles on the road today.

The company claims that the 2009 Hyundai Accent is the vehicle for a customer looking for the ideal mix of price, dependability and fuel economy. It may be recalled that the company had announced that next year a special high-mileage ‘Blue’ edition will be available that offers higher levels of fuel economy without adding to the price at the recent Los Angeles Auto Show 2008.

It is expected that Hyundai Accent ‘Blue’ will feature fuel-efficient modifications to reduce engine friction and rolling resistance, enhance aerodynamics, optimize gearing and revise engine calibrations for maximum efficiency.

According to reviews, the car represents a good value for those looking for predictable, no-frills transportation. The high sales seems to be motivated by its lengthy warranty period. Auto experts say that the Hyundai Accent offers worry-free driving, however, it would take a lot before it can be placed in the same league as Honda, in terms of several aspects such as resale value.

The Accent is quite underpowered by US cars’ standards – however, for daily commuting and grocery trips, it is more than sufficient.
