Holden Epica adds new diesel 2.0 L version
The Epica now has a spruced up look. It isn’t just the looks, but car maker GM Holden has packed value additions to the mid-size car making it more desirable. GM Holden has incorporated a new fuel efficient four-cylinder diesel engine plus six-speed automatic transmission with Active Select, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and six airbags standard across the range. Epica now has a new four-cylinder 2.0 litre diesel variant. This in fact is the latest addition to Holden’s growing diesel range. The rest of the additions to the Epica are cosmetic, making it more attractive to the buyer.
With the new value additions, it is expected that the Epica would now deliver good performance and also present commendable fuel economy of a low 7.6 litres per 100 km. What’s more is that the new diesel model gets a 6T40 six-speed automatic transmission with Active Select as standard.
Meanwhile, the 2.5 litre petrol model has also been upgraded to a six-speed transmission making the mid size beauty one of the first six-speed automatics in the medium car segment, said reviews.
The new looks show in the styling, made better with a new front grille, rear fascia and alloy wheels, giving it a sharper, more dynamic road presence and style. Added to these aspects are the significant safety features such as ESP and six airbags as standard across the range. These are apart from the other safety features, including ABS, traction control and electronic brake force distribution. Holden is also binging in a competitive pricing strategy, ranging between $27,990 for the – Epica CDX 2.5-litre petrol to $32,990 for the CDXi 2.0-litre diesel (6 speed auto) versions.
The new improved mid-size Epica is now available in both the CDX and CDXi versions . GM Holden has gone for the reintroduction of the Epica realizing the high competitiveness of the mid-size market. The company is positioning the vehicle as a value for money car with reliable safety features, added luxury and four-cylinder turbo diesel engine.
