Russian roads are most likely to see more of Gaz in the coming days. The Gaz Group has unveiled the serial production of its new car, named Volga Siber, which will be available across 68 dealerships in Russia.
With the new Volga SIber launch, the Gaz Group has started to produce a new line of cars under the Volga brand on platforms from the world’s leading manufacturers. The new production facility has the flexible capacity needed to bring new models into production at minimal cost and investment in the future. It has been said that that Gaz production facilities have a capacity to manufacture up to 100,000 cars a year.
Volga Siber has been made based on the Sebring platform acquired from Chrysler. The Siber has been designed by famous British studio UltraMotive. The Siber platform has a stiffer suspension and increased ground clearance compared with the original platform.
The Volga Siber will be priced in the $12,000-$20,000 range, targeting the popular Renault Logan directly.
The Gaz Group and Chrysler LLC work closely on the production of the car as well as with automotive components manufacturers supplying parts from Michigan for the new car.
The Volga SIber comes with a 2-litre engine that produces 141 bhp, air conditioning, two airbags, ABS and anti-skid traction control system. There is another engine option too available – a 2.4-liter which produces 173 hp.
Added to these are halogen headlamps with delayed disconnection and adjustable levels of brightness, power steering, adjustable steering wheel, electric driver’s seat adjustable in six directions, stereo system with six speakers and amplifier, heated and folding electric mirrors and a full spare tyre. The Volga Siber which saw production start in the spring of this year, boats of a four-cylinder in-line Chrysler engine.
