Fiat is betting big on New Zealand and has commenced its pre-launch publicity for the Scudo van in the country.

Though it is being said that the assembly line at Fiat would take time at least until Spring 2008 to produce the Fiat Scudo, the company has realized that customer interest in the model is on rise in New Zealand. This unique situation has forced Fiat to let out the details of the new car.
Fiat expects that this strategy would help potential customers in New Zealand to begin planning business purchases and placing orders for the award-winning Scudo that slots in right below the full size Fiat Ducato van.
The upcoming Fiat Scudo was recently voted International Van Of The Year 2008 by a team of journalists from 20 European countries.

As in the case of Fiat Ducato, the Scudo is being made available in a variety of versions and sizes. Fiat New Zealand will have the option to choose the variant that is ideal for local conditions and market requirements.
The Fiat Scudo is expected to arrive powered by an advanced turbo diesel 2.0 litre 88 kW engine with a six speed gearbox. For the New Zealand market, Fiat would roll out the Scudo with a standard roof and a long wheelbase body, with the aim of providing maximum space and accessibility to space-deficient loading areas. A six cubic metre load space and a 1200 kg payload accessible through rear barn doors and twin sliding side doors, will also be featured.
Fiat Scudo offers economical fuel consumption, low running costs and Euro 4 compliant engines
Likely to sport a retail price of $44,990, the Fiat Scudo would come incorporated with safety features such as twin front airbags and ABS brakes with EBD. Electric front windows, twin mode central locking and electric mirrors and powerful air conditioning are on offer. Seats would feature full size cloth-covers and a spacious, comfortable cab that is designed as the ideal working environment.
The Fiat Scudo would have a pneumatic or self-levelling suspension, a fixed, full width steel bulkhead, a double front passenger seat, modular second and third row seating.
