If a Ducati Monster is not your thing (hey, who are you again?), perhaps we could interest you in one of the new streetbikes from Ducati, the Ducati Streetfighter?

Take a look. As for me, I would take any Ducati, anytime. There are purists who prefer the Monster motorcycle models to anything else from Ducati – but I think the Streetfighter looks cool and aggressive in its own way. Some do not like that headlamp, I do.

But one look at that trellis frame, and you know its a Ducati. The tank, the big bore block, single-sided swingarm and Monobloc brakes – whats there to complain?

There is a Streetfighter S version too – Ducati says that the Streetfighter S is way too sophisticated, with Ohlines suspension front and rear with lightweight forged Marchesini wheels and Ducati Traction Control and data analysis and whatnot. Yea, way overboard for me.

After you have savored the photos in our Ducati Streetfighter photo gallery on this page, lets move on to Tech specs.

There is a 1099 cc L-Twin desmodronic engine with 4 valves per cylinder, (bore and stroke 104×64.7 mm) churning out 155 bhp @ 9500 rpm and a max torque of 85 lb-ft (115Nm) at 9500 rpm. Nothing to complain about in a naked street motorcycle, is there? The engine is the outgoing engine from the Ducati 1098 superbike makes an appearance on the Streetfighter and the Streetfighter S with 5 bhp less, that’s all.

By the way, the Ducati Streetfighter is an liquid-cooled motorcycle – not air-cooled, like the Monster models. All Monster motorcycles will remain air-cooled, while Streetfighters will be liquid-cooled.

The Ducati Streetfighter will be priced around $ 14,000 to $ 15,000.

Officially, the motorcycle will be unveiled today at the EICMA 2008, the 66th bicycle and motorcycle show to be held at the Milan exhibition centre from 4 to 9 November 2008.
