Danica Patrick signs up with JR Motorsports for Nascar 2010

Danica Patrick, the world’s most famous female auto racer, has announced that she has signed up with JR Motorsports to dirve a partial Nationwide Series schedule.

Nationwide is NASCAR’s second-highest series. Her first NASCAR race will be on 6 February at Daytona. JR Motorsports is owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Rick Hendrick. Her deal is for two years; she already has a 3-year Indycar deal with Andretti Autosport.

Danica has been a major star in Indycar for a log time. Recently, when the US F1 team was announced, she was one of the names being talked about – till the team said that Danica was too big for  startup team like them.

Getting into stock car racing from open wheel racing is a major step for Danica for sure. She will start off with an ARCA Series test at Daytona in December. She and JR Motorsports unveiled her Nascar car for the season – a green and yellow no.. 7 Chevy, sponsored by her longtime sponsor GoDaddy.com

NASCAR fans are pretty thrilled with the arrival of Danica Patrick, who is known as much for her sexy photo shoots as for her driving in Indycar.

This is just a beginning, for sure. It is not easy to win in NASCAR, especially after getting used to light Indycars. Juan Pablo Montoya is one who has had a reasonable success in NASCAR after a switch from Formula One, but even that took him two years of work.

It is believed that Danica will be able to race in around 20 Nationwide Series races in NASCAR 2010, even if races in all 17 Indycar races.
