Citroen revives the DS series

The French automobile company Citroen is all set to bring back the iconic Citroen DS in three flavors. DS was a hit in the days of fore and is sure to attract automobile aficionados all over the world.

In the global rebranding campaign the new DS range will be unveiled on 5 Feb, 2009. There are indications that the first DS badged model, a DS3 small car will be shown at the Geneva motor show in March.
This model is scheduled to hit the roads in the first half of 2010.

The second car, the lower medium DS4 will be out in the markets in the first half of 2011 followed by the third car in the range, DS5, which will be on sale in the latter half of 2011.

The original Citroen DS models were first in the showrooms between 1955 and 1975 and enjoyed a fair bit of success in those days. However it is yet to be seen what exact changes have been made in the new DS badged models. According to sources the Citroen DS range vehicles will have more striking designs and grandiose appointments. With everything going according to the plan the new DS range is sure to complement Citroen’s C3, C4 and C5 cars pretty well.

The expensive and extravagant Citroen DS models won accolades in 1960s because of its aerodynamic body design and its stylish looks. In the new version Bose electromagnetic suspension system will feature,
as per the reports. More details will be released in the near future.

Citroen is celebrating its 90th anniversary in style by reviving the DS series and it is yet to be seen how much admiration it wins all over the world. The revival of the series will help Citroen to win additional sales at bigger margins without extra production costs.
